Quinoa Flour is creamy-white in colour and slightly coarser than regular flour. Milled from white quinoa seeds, it is a great alternative to regular flour as it is naturally gluten and wheat-free. In conventional baking, quinoa flour is a high protein alternative to wheat flour and a small amount (around 20%) can easily be substituted to supply additional nutrients without the need to alter the recipe.

- + Health Benefits
As well as being gluten-free and low GI, quinoa is also an excellent source of protein, fibre and many essential vitamins and minerals. One serving of quinoa (approximately half a cup uncooked) provides over half of your daily-recommended intake of magnesium for healthy bones, and selenium for a healthy immune system. Quinoa is also a good source of iron and zinc. One serving of this super food offers a significant amount of folate, a mineral vital for healthy cell growth and red blood cells. Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant, is also plentiful in quinoa.
- + How to use
When baking with quinoa flour, be mindful of its stronger, slightly nutty flavour and use it in conjunction with other gluten-free flours. Note that you will usually need to add more liquid and eggs, and the cooking time and temperature may need to be reduced as well.
