Although referred to as peppercorns, these are actually grown on a tree and not closely related to the other varieties of pepper. They are rare and not easy to find. They have a fresh, sweet, pine-like aroma and flavour and a delicate, fruity, slightly tart flavour. They will add an elegant rich rose colour to enhance any culinary creation! Their bright pink husk contains a small brown seed and can be ground in a regular pepper-grinder, though beware of the delicate husk that can clog up the grinder.
